Device Requirements & Best Practices
Glownet’s Android Application can support most recent Android devices running Android 8+.
NFC Reader
Your device must have a working NFC reader / writer compatible with MIFARE Ultralight C or NTAG213 chips.
Connectivity
The Glownet Android application is fully capable of operating offline once it has been synchronized.
To allow for real-time operations (Live ticket check-ins, real time reporting), it is preferable to ensure proper Wi-Fi coverage or install SIM cards.
Battery
The Glownet Android application is a lightweight application and does not generally drain much power. In proper conditions, devices of 3000-4000 mAh can last 8-10 hours.
Certain conditions may affect battery life:
- Using the Camera at ticket check-in stations will drain more battery than all other operations
- Poor Wi-Fi / 3G / 4G connectivity will drain more battery than normal. Turning off the network can greatly extend the battery life at stations that do not require a connection
- High brightness will drain battery more quickly. Advise operators to adjust the brightness to an adequate level.
Device Fleets
In order to properly service your event, it is recommended to prepare your fleet in advance.
Whether you are using enterprise Android solutions or off-the shelf commercial Android devices, you will have to make sure your devices are compatible with Glownet and prepare the distribution of the Glownet application on your devices.
It is highly recommended for fleets of 20+ devices to be managed with a Mobile Device Management (MDM) platform to facilitate the installation of applications and configuration of devices for events.
